With his "Water Lilies" series, Santeri Tuori combines a limited set of photographs that he is taking during different stages of the same season. Assembled, they inspire a surreal sensation, as if the lilies are hovering on the surface of the water. Yet, there’s a depth within the photographs that seemingly entices the viewer to dive in.

Tuori’s time-based images become visual portals that encapsulate nature’s metamorphosis from one frame to another, rendering the photogenic quality more graphic, like a color pencil drawing. His subjects have their roots in traditional landscape painting and drawing, as seen in the watercolors of William Turner or the biblical paintings of El Greco. Tuori’s photographs are abstract from the real, creating his own time-scapes.
