Mikko
Rikala’s works represent research into spatiality and temporality,
emerging from both philosophical as well as scientific, nature-related
thoughts. Throughout his career, he has focused on different conceptual
ways of visualizing the passage of time and the cycles of nature.
Employing minimal aesthetics, he contemplates the intricate
interconnectedness of existence, exploring humanity’s relationship with
the natural world and the essential role of memory in shaping identity.
In his
Farewell Transmission works, the works explore the transformation and disappearance of stylistic movements, through the aesthetics of the Baroque. Mirror fragments emerging behind the horizontal and vertical cuts reflect the present moment through the lens of a historical era.
